They are sounding great! Over all the yellow group needs to listen to the songs the most because I only have 1-3 kids who really know the songs in that group, the rest need some work. In all classes we talked about using a singing voice and not a talking/shouting voice to get volume and that they should work on this during the week.
Such wonderful work by the kids! Keep up listening to the music! You are sounding awesome!

Great work! We are going to go ahead and cut the first song "Musical World" just to make sure we have enough time to work on the other ones and do well.
At home- please keep listening to the songs! Try to listen all the way through at least 4 times! Welcome back from break! We hit the ground running to prepare for our concert that is coming up VERY quickly! Everyone will need to put in some work to make sure we are prepared.
At home- I've asked all the students to listen to/sing along with each song at least twice a day for 4 days (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday is what I was thinking.) Put them on in the car from your mom's phone, put them on while you do chores, while you bounce on the trampoline...etc. The more they listen, the quicker they will pick up on the songs and be ready to perform! The songs are all in the previous post below. We started learning some of our new songs for the upcoming concert/wax museum. (More info to come on all of that soon!) I had the students listen to the songs and see if they could figure out what language/where they were from. I put a note at the top of this post so you can scroll back during the next few weeks and find this post easily. Here are all the songs we will be performing, plus the pronunciation guides:

So many earned belts they didn't think they were capable of getting! Everyone should be very proud of their work. Note- you no longer need to bring recorders to class.
Now we are going to be working on songs from different countries. Here are some to start listening to this week: 26-mayim_mayim-with-vocals.mp3 06-fanga-alafia-with-vocals.mp3 03-ach_du-lieber-augustin-with-vocals.mp3 These kids have gone above and beyond with their recorder progress! So many of them couldn't read a note a few weeks ago and now they are playing entire pieces! Everyone should be very proud of whatever belt they were able to get to.
-Next week we will have one more day to pass any other belts they want to pass. I would suggest only one or two and not trying to get a ton done if they are behind, just because of time. Wow! Great job everyone! We will spend 2 more weeks on recorder. So, as you are practicing see if you can catch up to where the rest of your class is, if you need to, or maybe you only have two belts left and you can complete one this week and one the next! Keep practing!
These kids are working super hard on completing their belts and it shows! Keep it up!
-If you have gotten as far "Twinkle Twinkle" make sure that you keep your fingers over the correct holes and don't slide them to different holes. Your fingers should simply lift from their assigned holes. -If you are behind your class on belts and want to catch up you need to come to me during gym time so I can listen to you. -5th graders ONLY- I handed out a whole new packet of music "Recorder Karate 2." While we are still finishing up brown belt and black belt I wanted to give students who are more advanced a chance to look at something new! Here is the link to the recordings of the music (click on "Black Belt Degrees")and the login info: Username: karate2 Password: blackb3lt (Note: the “l” is a lowercase L, not the number 1.) |
